Parking app Pango launches in New York

Pango launched its app in Tel Aviv in 2007, and it is also available in Poland, Germany, France, and in Baltimore and Washington DC in the US.

Pango Inc. has launched its mobile parking app in New York City, with the first smart garage located at East 77th Street and Lexington Avenue, "TechCrunch" reports. The app is available on iOS, Android, and BlackBerry devices.
Pango launched its app in Tel Aviv in 2007, and it is also available in Poland, Germany, France, and in Baltimore and Washington DC in the US. Users input their car's license plate number and credit card credentials. They then search for different Pango locations to park. At the smart garage, all the user has to do is pull in, and press a button to summon a valet, and when they want their car back, they can use the app to alert the garage so the car can be prepared to go.
Pango chairman is Prof. Yehuda Kahane and its CEO is Zion Harel. The company is headquartered in Kadima, Israel.

Facebook acquires Face.com for $100m

Facebook Inc. (Nasdaq: FB) has announced that it has acquired facial-recognition technology company Face.com. No financial details were disclosed but sources believe that the acquisition has been made for about $100 million.

Face.com was founded in 2007 and is based in Tel Aviv. The company has developed technology used for facial recognition on photos loaded onto websites and through mobile applications. The company has released two apps used on Facebook called Photo Finder and Photo Tagger.

In a brief statement, Facebook said the company’s technology “has helped to provide the best photo experience” for people sharing photos over the social network.
